Greetings from Austin!
We've just completed our fifth meeting of Drummers for Jesus. Praise God for the people He has sent our way! Each month new guys have come to check out what this ministry is all about. I begin our meetings with a "meeting and eating" time. I then take care of any housekeeping items. I read a devotional, take prayer requests and read any special prayer requests that have come through the e-mail wire.
I believe it is important to create an atmosphere that promotes "being in the body of Christ". I encourage everyone to e-pray and/or phone people whom they feel need to be uplifted. This creates a bond that extends beyond average musicianship.
We are currently working on promoting in a more aggressive way. I will be meeting with the drum manager of Guitar Center this week to inform him of this ministry and establish a relationship. God has also provided an opportunity for us to participate in a youth rally at the Family Worship Center in Elgin, TX on 11 September 04, and will have T-Bone as the main attraction. On 21 September 04, Drummers for Jesus will be a part of Skate on the Hill in Cedar Park, TX. I will take a short time to share with attendees what Drummers for Jesus is about and then we will do a few demonstrations, much like what we'll be doing at the youth rally.
One more item on our agenda is to schedule a clinic on a Saturday afternoon in the very near future where we eat BBQ, pray, share, and play for God. He is the reason for our praise and worship! I encourage all chapter presidents to lead your ministry by growing your relationship with the Father daily. You will then be equipped to lead by witnessing, evangelizing, praising, and worshipping the One True God. My prayers are with you all. May God increase while we decrease!
In His Grip,
Michael Underwood
