God's blessings from Austin, Texas!!
This is what I think of as I look back on the last month - blessings! God continues to open doors in people's lives around me and the great thing about this is that He is allowing me to be a part of it. If you're not experiencing blessings with the drummers/musicians you're around, I encourage you to commit this to prayer and ask God what He would have you do for the furtherance of His kingdom. This is what we were created for in the first place!
This past Monday was a special treat. Instead of having our normally scheduled meeting, we were invited as special guests to a taping of Terry Bozzio's live drum solo concert at the Austin Music Network (AMN) television station. Terry has a new DW kit that is approximately one month old. This was an opportunity for him to continue getting familiar with it, as well as raise money for AMN. It was an awesome time indeed! Many thanks to Eric Dorris who made this possible for our chapter!!
I have been encouraging each person that expresses interest in this ministry to go to the website and become a member!!!! If you ask why this is so important, perhaps reviewing the information on www.drummersforjesus.com is in order. I share these benefits each time a person gives input on how they believe this ministry can be more effective (i.e., drum/percussion clinics, discounts, encouragement, etc.).
The primary reason for this ministry is to lift up the name of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:1-2 tells us to be "imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma" (NKJV). Consider your walk with Christ - are you first walking in love with Him and then being an example of that love to others?
What is God opening the doors for in the month of October? So far, a drum clinic, a large community event, as well as a youth festival with bands, booths, drama, etc., are in the works. God is AWESOME!! I would like to encourage everyone to use this ministry for the reason it was created - to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to other drummers/percussionists!
May we walk in the love of Christ and allow ourselves to be strengthened by the knowledge of His grace and mercy in our lives. As we go through the next month, may we also allow God to use us in people's lives who may be hurting. "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2, NKJV).
I close with this: "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15, NKJV). Let the drum beats play with confidence and meaning because of what He has done for each of us!
